and the "Crazy Asian Man What Were You Thinking Award? goes too.....

TAN NGUYEN!!!!!

For those of you who don't know, Tan is the orange county republican challenger to Democratic U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez who is being investigated for supposedly authorizing the mailing of threatening letters to 14,000 Latinos in Southern CA warning them they could go to jail or be deported if they vote next month. Congratulations Tan for setting the race back about 40 years and making asians everywhere cringe in horror and go "AIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The funny thing is that this mofo refuses to withdraw from the race, which is a good thing for Dems. the other funny thing is that this incident illustrates the differences in the ways fucked up white republicans and fucked up republicans of color, who by definition are way more fucked up, deal with bad publicity problems. if this had happened to a white fucked up republican, you know that fool would have immediately said it was alcohol abuse that made him do it and checked into rehab, while this delusional FOB keeps on acting like there was nothing wrong and thinks he's not gonna get caught even though they can easily trace mail back to where it was sent from in this country. i'm taking a cue from white folks in the country , if my ass ever gets caught in a bad publicity scandal, you betta beleive im gonna have a press release and apologize to my friends and family for hurting them, admit to my bout with alcoholism and check myself into rehab.

While this man is obviously crazier than a rabid mongoose, i can't help thinking that if my nutty dad tried to run for office he'd pull some shenainegan like this without telling me. oh well, TAN you done fucked up!!!

Candidate in Letter Probe Stays in Race
By GILLIAN FLACCUS

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. -- The Republican congressional candidate whose campaign was linked to an intimidating letter sent to Hispanic voters promised Sunday to stay in the race despite pressure to withdraw.

"I'm not going to quit this race; I'm going to win this race," Tan Nguyen told reporters at his campaign headquarters.

Nguyen, a Vietnamese immigrant trying to unseat popular Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez, last week blamed an unidentified staffer for sending out 14,000 letters warning immigrants they could be deported or jailed for voting in next month's election. The mailings sparked state and federal probes.

Nguyen said he did not authorize or approve the letter, and implied that Sanchez was behind the investigations.

"There has been no crime committed so why is there a criminal investigation three weeks prior to a very important election? What is going on? Who is fueling this investigation?" he asked.

Calls seeking comment from Sanchez were not immediately returned.

The Orange County Republican Party has called for his resignation and he has received criticism from many, including Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On Friday, after Nguyen's campaign headquarters was searched by California Department of Justice investigators, a handful of local candidates showed up to condemn the letter and suggest Nguyen might not be the only Republican involved.

Nguyen's residence, and that of a home listed as belonging to one of his staffers, also were searched by investigators on Friday.

The letter, written in Spanish, was mailed to an estimated 14,000 Democratic voters in Orange County. It warned: "You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time."

Immigrants who have become naturalized U.S. citizens are eligible to vote.

William Braniff, a spokesman for the Nguyen campaign and a former U.S. attorney, blamed the controversy on the media. He said the media mistranslated the word "emigrado," which appeared in the Spanish-language letter.

The word "emigrado" refers to someone who has emigrated and has no specific legal connotation.

Braniff said, however, the word refers specifically to legal residents _ but not naturalized citizens. He said when the letter was translated into English, the word "emigrado" became "immigrant" and didn't distinguish between those immigrants who were U.S. citizens and U.S. residents.

Pluto X

so this year ive set very ambitious goals for my halloween costume but im not sure if i can pull it off. What have i decided on for my costume? Muthafuckin' Pluto YO!! Yeeeeaaaahh das right! I'm gonna be the ICE PLANET also known as Neptune. And I'm not just gonna be any regular old Pluto, I'm gonna be a pissed off Planet Nationalist, enraged that i got unjustly kicked out of the solar system and boycotting the whole snooty solar system in its entirety. this beats my usual halfassed costumes that arent really costumes but things i pull out of my closet, like one year when I was waldo because i so happened to have a red and white striped sweater and red beanie and another year when i bought a pair of cat ears and said i was a cat, and another year i bought ladybug wings and said i was a ladybug

this year i feel so passionate about the fundamental wrongness of Pluto getting kicked out and nobody making a fuss about it, that i feel compelled to stand up for the Planet of my childhood.

at lunch today i was going over plans on how to make my pluto costume with some friends who asked me how i was gonna do it and the conversation became hopelessly convoluted.

Me: hmm..i dont know how im going to make a big blue globe suit for me to wear
Kevin: hey why dont you just get a garbage bag, fill it with newspaper and paint it blue. of course it would be incredibly hot and the newspaper would fall to the bottom but it might work

Me: oh man...i don't know. i have to be very robust and round in my shape and a garbage bag won't really do.

Bianca: i know.. this is what you should do, you should get one of those big yoga balls from target for 20 bucks, paper mache the whole thing so you have a round spehere, and then we'll cut a hole in the top and pop the yoga ball, pull it out and you'll have your globe . you can then cut a big hole at the bottom of it so your legs can stick out, and holes at the side for your arms. and we can paint the whole thing bleu with tempera. no problem!!

Me: uhh..how will be pop the ball? how will i sit down? will i fit in a car? how much are those balls? aren't they expensive?

******************

In other words, i've been taliking baotu this damn costume all month, but deep down i fear that i wont be able to pull it off.

more pics!

i was very proud of this sign and very sleepy from getting my ass up at 7 am

8 AM suspense building while tim, tristan, doug and i wait for bubba ...check out the nifty signs i made!

damn look at all those folks!

Proof!!

so i've been meaning to blog about my personal one on one meeting with Bubba Clinton last week-actually it was more of an encounter where i stood in a crowd of 3,000 and watched him speak with a million people- but i jsut haven't had the damn time.

plus i called so many freakin people to tell them about my experience that day shaking the hand of bubba that i was worn out telling the story. i called chu hui immediately and was so hysterical with excitement that she thought i won the damn lottery or something and hit me up for a chinchilla coat. i will blog the whole story soon but for now, here's a pic my friend tristan sent me of me in the crowd with bubba right in front of me.

you can't really see anything but my nose and eyes and bangs but i think it looks like me, you can see the excitement glistening in my eyes like a true bona fide FOB who just experienced the patriotic joys of living in the United States.

Connie said she could tell it was me. here's the email she sent me:
"girl...that is totally you. You stand out like a gem in a sea of whiteness. Damn, you should have just leaned forward and put your head on his chest."

Damn, i shouldve leaned over and asked Bubba to expedite my citizenship application and/or hire me as his domestic servant!!!

some students who fought the power

i was surfing around on the web for some video clips of James Baldwin speeches and couldn't find any. but instead i found this awesome news clip from the 80's when black law students at harvard protested to demand that black faculty be hired at the their law school

here's the descritption!

"Marcus Jones reports that fifty students at Harvard Law School have occupied the dean's office to demand an increase in minority faculty at the school. Jones notes that the students have presented the school with a list of demands, including the promotion of Derrick Bell (Professor, Harvard Law School) to the position of dean of the school. Jones interviews Robert Wilkins (Harvard Black Law Students Association) about the lack of diversity among faculty members and about the students' demands. Jones reports that students at universities across the nation are protesting racism and a lack of diversity on college campuses. Jones' report includes footage of Harvard Law students in the Dean's office and footage from Frontline of a campus protest against racism."

in watching the clip, i cant help but thing "HOLY SHIT THEY HAD 50 BLACK STUDENTS BACK THEN??!??" if we doubled the black law students at ucla law, we wouldn't even get 50. geez!

click on the link and click on the links to the left to watch the video! i wonder if some professors at ucla we know were in this video. we should do this at ucla to get a latino law professor hired. i can only imagine how our dean would have a quadruple heart attack if a bunch of angry black students stormed his office, mofo would pass the fuck out in fright!

this site has old asian pop songs: Japanese Latin, Thai Beat, Bollywood oldies, Japanese oldies and Singapore Sixties. i personally dig the bollywood versions of ABBA songs.

60's MOD FOBS!

i wish there were more pictures of these bands from the 60's since im more interested in those. where are the 60s bands from the philippines at? the beatles were HUUUUUUGGGGGEE in the philippines, so im sure there were knock off british pop bands, but maybe not since a thick bowl haircut on a filipino man in that kind of humidity and hot weather would be the equivalent of asking him to wear a big ass rug over his head. i dont know if filipinos wouldve been willing to subject themselves to that level of hair craziness.

welcome!

welcome to my new blog!

due to the diverse mix of people that read my livejournal , i felt compelled to start up a new secret blog in order to be more free and unrestrained by the consternations of some uppity white folks who just don't get many of my ruminations of what its like to live day in and day out as a paranoid ass FOB. so now here i am free and easy like a sunday morning! woo hoo!

seeking a new blog name, i sought the opinions of some trusted advisors. i asked them to vote and choose between the following options:

1. backtomongolia.blogspot.com
2. steelmongolias.blogspot.com
3. asianchipmunk.blogspot.com
4. superfobbic.blogspot.com
5. greenasspassport.blogspot.com
6. fobcentrism.blogspot.com
7. fobnicity.blogspot.com
8. smallbrestases.blogspot.com

well it was a tie between steelmongolias, greenasspassport, and asianchipmunk. but at the last minute barry's bf davey swooped in with the tiebreaker and voted for steelmongolias. so here it is, my new blog!
